Part-time (well, initially at least) personal assistant needed. Immediate start.If you are bright, well adjusted, and looking for flexible part-time work where each day will be a challenge, and most likely different from yesterday, then you might be the person I am looking for.Work is located in a hip and fun workspace in Brooklyn. Competitive pay and flexible hours. (The flexible hours are great if you are a single parent, like me, or perhaps a student with some time of their hands? But anyone is welcome to apply if you can do the job.)I am looking for someone who, even if they don't know the answers, is creative about getting answers; and definitely gets things done. If, in addition to the usual run-of-the-mill tasks of a PA (more on that later), you would be unfazed by esoteric questions and tasks like those below, then you are the exceptional person I am looking for.* How many street "food carts" are there in New York city? Just need an estimate.* How big is the F# (computer language) community in New York?* Call the CTO of companies X, Y and Z and pitch this idea for me (for which you would have a script to follow).* How many people own a motorcycle in NYC?* Create a 1-page attention grabbing flyer for a cutting-edge technical event in New York ... taking place next month!* Find me a keynote speaker who can give a keynote talk on the topic of "What lessons we can learn from exploring inner space (the oceans) and apply then to the exploration of outer space (the asteroids)?" for an "Off-Planet Technology" conference I am organizing. Actually, that's a gimme because the person that first came to my mind was John Ballard, who discovered the resting place of the Titanic. Buy, hey, who knows, you might find even better candidates! (Incidentally, I am not making this up!)Specific PA responsibilities and skills:* Scheduling appointments.* Booking business and personal travel.* Internet based research.* Must understand and be good at social media. Marketing skills a must.* Speak and interact with the press.* Deal with confidential business matters. Discretion is essential.* Well organized. Someone who doesn't ever let something fall down a crack.* Good computer skills.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. There is a strong writing component to this job, so you had better be a particularly strong writer.* Must have a great telephone manner.* Self motivated and willing and able to work independently much of the time.* ... and anything else that comes to mind.For the successful candidate I will be asking for three references who I *will* call to follow up with. Two references must be able to speak to your past work, and the third must be able to speak to your moral character (a pastor, past teacher, even a parent - who probably knows you best!
