Editorial/Publishing Internship:Description/ Duties:For people with a love of reading who are interested in entering the publishing world, either as a future editor or literary agent, the editorial/publishing internship at Foundry is ideal. You will spend your time reading through our submissions pile (both solicited and unsolicited material); evaluating the material/writing coverage; compiling edits and editorial comments; and making recommendations to literary agents. Additionally, you'll spend time working on various projects for the agents which will greatly increase your knowledge of the industry. Such projects might include (but are not limited to) updating the editor list for the office, helping out with submission letters or scouring the web/blogs/magazines for book ideas and potential authors. Administrative duties will be kept to a minimum but will include tasks such as: filing, answering the phone, organizing mailings etc. We can offer course credit for the internship if necessary and also provide a small stipend. Requirements: Candidates must be working towards a bachelor's degree or post-graduate degree. Recent college graduates may also apply for the position. Analytical/critical eye with an ability to evaluate opinions concisely in writing. No experience in the publishing field is necessary, although a definite plus.
